Myself Shaji. P. Having retired as Joint Director from the Forensic Science Laboratory under Police Dept. of Kerala, I am practicing now as Private Cyber Forensic Consultant. I was instrumental in starting and modernizing the digital forensics wing of the State Forensic Lab, which became a benchmark for analysis of electronic evidence in Kerala. I have more than two decades of distinguished expertise in analysis of electronic evidence & handwriting analysis. Proven track record spanning analysis of more than 1,000 electronic evidence cases represents the pinnacle of my professional excellence in digital forensics. Key component of my proud history also includes individual appreciations by 2 Hon’ble Judges in their judgments after having impressed on my remarkable electronic evidence analysis skills and evidence presentation in courtroom. One of my contributions was as a key prosecution witness in the “Attingal Double Murder” case where the conspiracy of 2nd accused was proved under 120B IPC solely on electronic evidence. (Proving IPC 120B solely based on electronic evidence in SC No.1480/2014 of The Sessions Court Trivandrum, which was also upheld by The Hon’ble High Court of Kerala in Crl. Appeal No. 639 of 2016 & SC No.265/2018 of The Spl Court for SC/ST (POA) Act Cases /Addl Sessions Court, Mannarkkad).

    The schedule under 63(4)(c) of The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 stipulates to produce 2 certificates along with electronic evidences, one (Part A) which is to be signed by a person in charge of the computer or communication device or the management of the relevant activities (whichever is appropriate) and other (Part B) which is t

    The schedule under 63(4)(c) of The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 stipulates to produce 2 certificates along with electronic evidences, one (Part A) which is to be signed by a person in charge of the computer or communication device or the management of the relevant activities (whichever is appropriate) and other (Part B) which is to be signed by an expert after validating the Hash values of the evidence device. Moreover, the schedule also stipulates to enclose a Hash report generated by the software/hardware used to authenticate the evidence device. Generation of hash values of a file may be a simple process. But generation of hash values of an evidence device like flash drive, hard disk etc is more complex and involves the usage of forensic write blockers and forensic software/hardware. As a qualified expert under Section 39(1) of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023, I am capable of issuing Part B of certificate under Section 63(4)(c) of the BSA 2023, after validating hash values in Part A and thus providing the expert certification necessary for electronic records in judicial proceedings. I adhere strictly to legal and technical standards.
